Condominium House Lift
Hale Built lifted this multi-family condominium building weighing nearly 400 tons to 15ft above grade. The building has masonry firewalls and the method used was called "slab separation", where beams are run through the 1st floor walls and the building is lifted without its floor system. The foundation was demolished and disposed of and sixty high capacity 3-inch helical piles were installed. The helical piles were tied together with a conventional concrete grade-beam which had 15 masonry piers built to support the new steel and TGI floor system. The exterior of the new ground floor was enclosed with timber framing and finished to match. The building owner not only overcame the flood plain elevation but provided garage space and off-street parking.
